Wow--new rendering applications, perhaps?

This is a bit spooky.  Watch through to the end to see the implications of what they're doing with the lighting/projecting/cameras.

Anyone care to explain why this works a bit better (for those of us who are posting here too late)?  Looks fascinating.

I think something like Maxwell might be able to play with these tricks--since they say they have true light rendering capacity (or maybe they're already doing it).

Also, I think we'll see this in some spooky high-end governmental stuff sometime soon (if not already).

RE: Wow--new rendering applications, perhaps?

Hi Jeff,

Maxwell is touching on some of that technology with their "mulitlight" ability but I haven't ssen anything that allows you to read a playing card from the reflective light information or do the character or strobe effects.

It's an interesting video.  It amazes me their are people out there that can think of, research and come up with this stuff.

Inasmuch as I can grasp what they're doing, it makes perfect sense that something like Maxwell could also do this--except maybe without the calculation of the reflected image--since it supposedly traces all the bounced light accurately to produce a rendered scene.

Of course, I'd like to get my head around how it works a bit more--I'm a bit foggy on that.
