Tree Picking

Tree Picking

(OP)
OK, I want to ask if this is possible.

In a CATPart.

1. Is there are way to "Define in Work Object" w/o right mouse button.  ie double click?  Is there something in the options?

2. Is there a way to change the names of geo.sets and bodies w/o right mouse button.  i.e. slow double click similar to changing name in windows.

If you can't, then damnit, these should be in an update.

RE: Tree Picking

you can change the active body in using the Tools - toolbar, but you can not change the name with a slow pick there.

RE: Tree Picking

Also - Alt-Enter will bring up the property page

RE: Tree Picking

I tried to set a hot key for it, but with no luck.  However, give that a try, because I have found in the past, that certain hot keys are able to be set depending on what level of product is installed. For example, until recently, I could not set a certain hot key when I installed the full product, but had no problem when I only installed HD2.  This is most likely a bug, to be sure, but it may be of some value.

Let us know how it goes.  I would be interested to know how it works out.

RE: Tree Picking

I have also tried a hot key for it, but it would work for only so long, then just quit working.  Quite frustrating.

As for the properties menu, I used to use alt+enter until I found a faster way.  My mouse has the middle wheel, and you can click it left or right (presumably to scroll left and right) but since I don't use that much, I set the "right scroll" to be "alt + enter).  Now I can select an object and bring up its properties in one smooth motion.

I still would like a box prompt for a name though, when you insert a new geo set or part body.

RE: Tree Picking

Albigger - what do you mean that "it would work for only so long, then just quit working"?  Do you mean that the hot key went away when you restart a session?

The fact that you can even set a hot key is just what I was talking about earlier.  I have a greyed out box when I attempt to hot key it.

As for the box prompt on naming geo sets and part bodies - there is a prompt for a name every single time a geo set is inserted.  I did not find any options to turn it on/off, but it has always been with me, since day one.  PartBody is a different story...

RE: Tree Picking

Really?  I'm feeling out of sorts today, there IS indeed a prompt when you insert geo sets.  Would be nice for part bodies or even features though.

Yes, I did get the hot key to work, after much trouble.  It was also greyed out when I initially tried, and either thru this forum or COE I was told to put the Define in work object command to one of my toolbars, then it let me make it a hotkey.  I have it set at Alt+d now, and it seems to work for a while but then the key combination just quits working.

I haven't tried this on our most recent release though, this was probably R15 or the early service packs of R16.

RE: Tree Picking

Albigger - you need to add an icon to the Insert menu.  Customize - toolbars - Insert - add command Body in a set...
I believe this is what you are looking for.
As for your hotkeys, setup catia menus and hotkeys, then make a backup of your CATSettings directory.
They (settings) tend to corrupt.

Derek
