Stiffener size & spacing on a steel stack

Stiffener size & spacing on a steel stack

(OP)
Can anyone recommend any text books or set of calculations to identify the stiffener size and spacing requirements for refractory lined steel stacks. The stiffeners will be primarily used to restrain the stack from ovaling during shipment and installation.

Thank you in advance.

RE: Stiffener size & spacing on a steel stack

A VERY GOOD REFERENCE IS: PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN MANUAL BY MOSS. It has everything about the design of stacks in particular. Stiffeners, Rings, gusset design... etc
good luck.

Also, see the CICIND code for steel chimneys.
