Concrete Batch Plant

Concrete Batch Plant

Concrete Batch Plant

Hey all,

I am looking for information on ready mix batch plants.
The majority of batch plant inspections I have performed consists of going to plant, checking batch ticket for correct mix, weight tolerance on materials, calculating out allowable water to be added on job if any, requesting that the driver fills his water tank full, doesnt soup up the mix while washing fins and goodbye.

I am getting into a state position inspecting batch plants, and their requirements are a little more detailed.
Will be collecting samples of aggregate, cement, mineral ad-mix and other materials. Inspecting the scales, the trucks, the belts, sieve sceens, verifying rate of discharge on various liquids.

I realize the general process of the plant , but was wondering if anyone knew of any good reference books or  web sites that detail the operations of a ready mix concrete plant........

Thanks for the help...

Famous last words......  Ummm ya  thats just a stockpile..we will remove it tomorrow.....have no plan on leaving it in place.......

RE: Concrete Batch Plant

I've got a check-list somewhere at home I'll find.

RE: Concrete Batch Plant

Start with:
(First one is especially good, I think)
Washington Batch Plant Inspection Forms
CA Precast Concrete Plant Initial Audit
Florida Concrete Batch Plant Operator Study Guide
IADOT Structural Concrete Plant Inspection
US Army Corps of Engineers

Don't have the URL for the info below (yet)
NRMCA (Nat’l Ready Mix Conc Ass’n) – Batch Plant Inspection Guidelines

RE: Concrete Batch Plant

Heres the link for NRMCA, however, it is required to be done by a licensed engineer. http://www.nrmca.org/products/certification/plantandtruck.asp

You can also check ACI 311 "Guide for concrete plant inspection and testing of ready-mixed concrete" and ACI 363 "Guide to quality control and testing of high-strength concrete".

Be warned, your inspectors may get flack from the plant if they try and do more than read the tickets. By the way, I have tickets from producers that stated materials were in spec, and when you manually do the math they werent. So my advice is to alway read the digital readouts. And Seattle plant inspection requires digital readouts be the only method to calculate max and mins.
