Custom Properties

Custom Properties

(OP)
Is anybody aware of a relatively painless way to redefine custom properties in a part or assembly file without having to  go into each individual file?

Currently we are using a series of custom properties <Description1, Document number> and the like and I'd like to transfer our system over to as many of the stock formats as possible to integrate with PDMWorkgroups search capability. It looks like I can only use one of our custom properties and I need more searchability than that.

RE: Custom Properties

Check out PropaGator.  Or, if you're decent with VBA, you can code your own using dsofile.

These look like they'll work great, my only concern is whether or not I will lose the value of th property I'm changing.

If I have:

Document Number:  XXXYY1

and I want to change it to

Document Name:

Will I keep the XXXYY1 ?

RE: Custom Properties

You'll have to check and see.

Look also at Solidworks Task Scheduler.

the one global Macro that fcsuper provided will keep the value when changing the property for custom properties, however I think it may be glitched for config specific data. But the tool does do what I want to do, thanks fcsuper.
