ethylene glycol swivel fitting

ethylene glycol swivel fitting

(OP)
Hi,

I'm looking to design a piping system for about 4 coolant lines (3" dia each) carrying ethylene glycol to a shelter resting on an Azimuth turntable. Because the turntable will need less than 3/4 of a rotation, I want to stack 4 swivel fittings over the center of rotation. The expected Pressure requirement is ~200 psi. I was thinking a hydraulic-type fitting might be a source. Any idea where I might find this type of fitting? I prefer to avoid wrapping flexible hose. This is outdoor & must fit thru a 48" dia hole. Does this sound like a commmom application?

Thanks

Deublin is the brand name company you want to talk to or at least look at:  http://www.deublin.com/

You can find products similar to theirs on McMaster Carr's website, mcmaster.com.  They have some (although only rated for air, not water/glycol) with 4 independent connections in one union.

Two cautions:  1. get epdm seals if at all possible, and plan for leakage.  2. Your application is one of reciprocating motion - try and get a union design that has all fitting threads aligned perpendicular to the axis of rotation, so that the fitting threads won't back off over time.

Thanks btrueblood, I'll check out the site & seek their guidance. I see McMaster has some but they say they're not intended for a lot of cycles.

Here is one, Johnson, that we use in water/glycol system that operate 24/7/365. It is nothing to get 10 yrs service before rebuild. I don't know the model number but its for dryers and coolers using water or water/glycol.

vbk,

The size 3" lines would make hoses fairly stiff.   There are swivel joints made for tanker and rail car loading arms in that size that would be a good fit for your application.

These vendors also make the fueling hose swivel fittings that you would see at gasoline pumps:
