Fixing issue

Fixing issue

Fixing issue

(OP)
Sometimes, when I want to fix a component in an assembly, mostly with an imported model (step format), I don't get the Fix/Float option when I RMB in the feature manager for the part. Am I missing something ? I am not having this issue with all the parts that I imported in the assembly, but only for a couple of parts. I am importing the whole model as an assembly.

RE: Fixing issue

Which version of SW?

Do the parts which you cannot Fix/Float have mates? Not all versions allow the Fix/Float if a mate exists.

CBL: I use SW2007 SP0.0. I am not sure where to look for Version. You mean if I don't have mates in my assembly, I should not have problem in fixing or floating ? I will try that shortly. thanks for the input.  Congrats for being voted as the tip master. You deserve it.

RE: Fixing issue

SW2007 is the version (as opposed to SW2006 or 2005).

SW2007 allows the Fix option even if mates fully define the components. The mates just become suppressed.

... and thank you for the congrat's.

RE: Fixing issue

BTW, I highly recommend upgrading to 2007 SP3.0 due to issues with file sizes prior to build SP2.2.

RE: Fixing issue

fcsuper,

Was the file size issue fixed in SP2.2 or is 3.0 needed?  And any idea if the Microsoft patch is still needed?

Eric
