Smoke Wand

Smoke Wand

(OP)
I am interested in making a smoke wand for air flow visualization.  Do any of you know how to make one, where I can get plans for one, or for that matter know where I can buy one?  I am suprised at the lack of information uncovered in my web searches.

Thanks in advance,

MintJulep,

Thanks for the link, but I am actually looking for the wand.  I need a very small stream of smoke and to precisely control its placement.  This is for visualizing the air flow around fan components.

Got any other ideas?

Wow!  This might just be what I need.  I'll look into this.

I wonder if we'll be able to pass the random drug screening after using this.  The "wick" looks suspiciously like something one of my fraternity brothers consumed!

Try Draeger

Friar Tuck of Sherwood

RE: Smoke Wand

Yes, Draeger's H2SO4 sticks can be used for air flow visualization. We use cotton wicks dipped in Titanium Tetrachloride for flow visiualization. However, use good nose masks while trying TTCL.

There are other less expensive and widely available sticks. These are dual purpose items and are generally called as cigaretteswink

I'm screwed!  We're a "smoke free" work place.

But wait, maybe that means the company will provide the cigarettes for free!  (Engineers can rationalize anything!)
