High Rise Flue Stacks

High Rise Flue Stacks

Looking for flue design considerations for High rise apartments with gas insert fireplaces venting into a common stack. While the ASHRAE systems book addresses draft inducers and several aspects, I am looking for reference information that more directly addresses high rise systems. Have designed stacks for multiple boilers on a common floor, but the vertical arrangement in a high rise suggests there are a different set of conditions involved.

RE: High Rise Flue Stacks

NFPA codes do not permit this nor does IMC code.

Thanks for your response - Willard3.
Question is related to an existing system - 30 years old.
There is a problem with one specific fireplace insert connection - 5" aluminum connection to stack has melted, and I am making a subjective judgement for the owner at this time. Expect that there are other failures, and a further investigation will anticipate using a camera for a complete internal inspection.
I did make A quick review of various codes including the ones mentioned, and did not see a specific reference to this application. Time to review the codes again. I would presume the initial system was within code.
