There is any other method to calculate swelling of clays soils, besides PVR, maybe something in ASTM?.

There is some methods to identify or establish the potential of soils to heave in ASTM, ASTM D4829 and ASTM D4546. I also suggest you to read the Technical Manual TM 5-818-7 "Foundation in expasve soils" published US Army Corps of Engineers, this document can be downloaded at
