I am looking for information to help us layout a fire protection system for a commercial site.  In particular information on locating FDC with regard to backflow prevention, PIV, etc.

Be sure to check the local municipality's regulations.  They can be more stringent than NFPA.

A side note.  In the area of Florida I live in the fire protection design is considered a specialty and the S&S PE must be competent in the area.  We (or the architect) usually sub out the design of the system to a certified fire suppression contractor.  My design typically ends at a stubbed out valve from the main.
