Pack and go problem

Pack and go problem

Pack and go problem

(OP)
Hello all,

I trying to use SW's Pack and Go feature and running into problems.  I pick my files, select the "Save to Zip File" option and click "Save".  It creates the zip file okay, but it appears empty when I open it.  Yet the file size is 500K to 1 Meg, depending on what files I picked.  I have tried it several times with different files and the zip files are all empty.

I tried to "extract all" on the zip file and get a message saying "Windows has blocked access to these files to protect your computer".

I'm not sure if the zip contains files or not.

Using SW07 SP2.0 on Win XP Pro 2002 SP2.

RE: Pack and go problem

Windows has blocked access to those files?  I was going to say it sounds like a firewall or anti-virus blockage problem, but you said the error says Windows did the blocking.  Hmmmm.  Are you using a Zip program, or is this handled only by SolidWorks and Windows.

If not, go to 7zip.com and you can download a Zip file creator and check out the file (free download, good product).  Let us know if that doesn't open the file for you.  If it does work, I'd recommend unzipping into a new directory, closing SolidWorks, and opening the new files in the new directory, just to double-check that you have everything you want in your Zip file.

Reason trumps all.  And awe transcends reason.

RE: Pack and go problem

I believe this was covered in a recent post and the problem was that it was not playing nice with the Windows zip function. Using a 3rd party compression utility was the workaround.

magineer,

CBL is correct.  Windows cannot open Pack and Go files.  Winzip works but try Theophilus suggestion.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try the workaround.
