Bend Deduction Table

Bend Deduction Table

Bend Deduction Table

(OP)
Hello to all, I'm a new guy who just stumbled onto this place. I have a question about bend deduction tables.

Does each machine shop really vary that much or can I set up a basic deduction table and use it for multiple vendors? I could call each of the big three that we use and go through the same questions and set up three different table, but does anyone have a table already set up that will work as a basic guideline? And I read where material specs will also vary the deductions? We typically use .063 and .090 5052-H32. Does anyone have a table setup properly for this that I can have or do I need to start from scratch?

Thanks in advance. JWB    FES Corp.

RE: Bend Deduction Table

Most fab shops I have used prefer to create their own blanks. I usually just create the finished part drawing with the required tolerances and let them work their magic to match their machines/tools abilities.

I am only interested in the finished product ... not how they get there.

I agree. We are using a machine shop that want us to provide flat patterns in the .dxf format. So, I was wanting to export them correclty.

RE: Bend Deduction Table

The safest way is to have them make some test bends on the material you intend to use, using various bend radii. They can then supply you with the exact deduction they want. You can then compare that to the standard tables you have and decide if custom ones are needed.
