LAYERS

LAYERS

(OP)
I don't generally use layers much but we have made our drawing border and rev block text boxes (within our background sheet) etc on layers, some of which are set to 'non locatable' to reduce chance of modifiying it by accident.

Now the main point of my post.

So long as a layer is set as locatable, I can select anything on that layer and modify it.  The layer doesn't need to be 'active'.

Some of my colleagues have a problem. They can only modify items on the 'active' layer.  This is getting annoying and I can't find a local user setting that covers this.

Anyone have any ideas?

RE: LAYERS

On the Ribbon bar, with no object selected, there is a "filter" icon (the very first one one the left).  Click on that and make sure your selection settings are checked with your preferred work method.

In their case, I'm guessing that the radio button for "All Layers" or "Active layers only" is set to the latter.

I see it, for me (V18) it says it's a "select tool - select options" and Active Layer isn't selected.

I just looked at someone that was having trouble and they had Active Layer selected.

Appreciate the quick response.

RE: LAYERS

Instead of using "Layers" for your different lines, notes, etc... on your background sheet, you can "Group" them and set some "Groups" to non-locatable, it should do the same job.

Thanks vriyg, I hadn't thought about achieving it that way.

I didn't create the template in the first place but maybe if I make changes I'll consider doing it that way.
