Graded Yield Strength

Graded Yield Strength

(OP)
All,

I'm new to the forum and needed some direction for abaqus. I want create a material with a graded yield strength in one direction.

I basically have a top layer and bottom layer with yield strengths sigma_1 and sigma_2 respectively. The middle layer needs to have a graded yield strength from sigma_1 (top) to sigma_2 (bottom) through the middle layer thickness.

I was told to use field variable dependence but I can't find a good example. Can someone point me in the right direction??

Thanks as always...

Craig.

Also, you can search the forum using "field variable".
