MV levels of the world?
MV levels of the world?
(OP)
Hello people!
My first post on this forum (great!, by the way). I was searching the internet for voltage levels in MV distribution grid in different countries of the world. I could not find any site having that information. Found only one: http:// en.wikiped ia.org/wik i/List_of_ countries_ with_mains _power_plu gs%2C_volt ages_and_f requencies
but that is not what I need...
Can anyone help, please? Thanks!

There are also some 3-wire systems in North America, namely:
13800, 6900 and 4160
The rest of the world has 3-wire MV systems and you'll find that 11 kV and 33 kV are the common ones.
RE: MV levels of the world?
I am interrested in a list, showing many (most of) coutries. I know that in Holland e.g. they use 10,5kV, in Portugal-6,3kV, India-6,6kV, Bangladesh-11kV etc, but I need the rest of the world (up to 15-20 kV).
I think I have seen a list like that once, but can not remember where/when.
RE: MV levels of the world?
Nigeria - 11kV, 33kV
Egypt - 11kV, 22kV
Ethiopia - 15kV, 33kV
Iran - 20kV, others?
Iraq - 11kV, 33kV
Albania - 10kV, 20kV, 35kV
Bulgaria - 6.3 kV, 10kV, 20kV
All these voltages are for distribution grid, not generator voltages.
Probably other voltages also are used in these countries, but these are according to my knowledge. At least in Oil Industry they use their standards anywhere, even separated 60Hz installations in countries with 50 Hz grid.

It may be like this in theory and practice, but in real life it is completely different.

The problem with a list which addresses all the choices in the world is this: who would need to know that to fund such a study? For any given engineer in any given country, all he/she needs to know is what is available there. The answer is, people who need to sell equipment in all those countries, and when information is useful only for commercial purposes, it becomes a valuable asset, i.e. someone is going to sell it!

That said, some people have started on more altruistic projects like that. You may find this interesting;

RE: MV levels of the world?
Ireland: 10kV, 20kV, 38kV, 66kV, 110kV
Saudi Arabia: 4.16kV, 13.8kV (can't rember the higher ones)
Singapore: 22kV
RE: MV levels of the world?
I am aware of that it's not usual to ask for this kind of information, but as jraef said, it is for a kind of commercial purpose. I thought that it could be somewhere on the internet.
But thanks again!
