COPY SETTINGS WIZARD

COPY SETTINGS WIZARD

COPY SETTINGS WIZARD

(OP)
solidworks crashed during a session and when I restarted, all of my customized settings were gone.  I tried to reset them with the copy wizard, but then remembered I never copied them due to some error message I got when I tried to copy them to the "wizard" when I installed the new version.

After rebuilding all settings I again tried to use the Settings Wizard to copy the toolbars and such (again).... and I get this window that says, "cannot load Solidworks settings information from "administrator".

I'm running SW on a stand alone machine, 2007 sp 2.1.

I saw Scott's FAQ559-1158 but not sure there's help there for what I'm describing.  Thanks for any follow up.....

John

RE: COPY SETTINGS WIZARD

Check with your VAR, but I think you can rename (and delete later) a registry setting and restart SW to regain your settings.  I don't remember what the setting to rename is, but your VAR should know--or maybe it's buried in one of the FAQs.  Don't rename anything in the registry unless you know what you're doing.

Reason trumps all.  And awe transcends reason.

RE: COPY SETTINGS WIZARD

That FAQ should still work. but only if you have the file.
