Gasket in Spectacle Blind

Gasket in Spectacle Blind

(OP)
Hi,

Can anyone tell me if do I need to replace the existing gaskets installed between the spectacle blind and flange when I rotated the spectacle blind? The line will be pressure tested thus, I need to rotate the spectacle to close the line.

Thanks

RE: Gasket in Spectacle Blind

A piping flange gasket that has had its clamping/compressive force removed should be replaced.

An exception would be metal ring joint gaskets that can be reused under certain circumstances.

RE: Gasket in Spectacle Blind

I agree with dtn6770,
You should always replace the gasket with a new one when you "break" a flanged joint.

RE: Gasket in Spectacle Blind

Ditto, I'm also in agreement with the above replies.
