I'm trying to mirror features of in a part to keep from having to redraw them.  After I mirror them I need to move them a little.  Can this be done?

RE: desolve pattern and or mirror parent child relation

No, mirrored features cannot be moved other than by moving the mirror plane. They cannot be moved independently.

You should be able to copy and flip the feature sketch though, instead of doing a mirror.

Also, non-merged features (a body in a multi-body part) can be mirrored and moved using the Move/Copy Body function.

Tstover,

You can move the mirrored geometry by using the Move Face command (Insert, Face, Move).  If your geometry is simple enough this should work for you.

CBL,

I've recently developed a fondness for the Move/Replace Face commands.  I've always liked the option to Delete Face and have the model auto-magically patch itself but I just used the Move / Replace commands on a recent project.  They made it a lot easier to end up with a part that wasn't cobbled up with a  lot of features that were simply there to clean up some geometry that resulted from some differing draft angles on a molded part.  Fortunately, these commands are intuitive enough that someone else can pick up the part at some point in the future and easily see what was done.

I realy just wanted to be able to dissolve the pattern or mirror property in a part like you can for library features or components in assemblies. The best method I've found was to just drag and drop out of the feature bar.

RE: desolve pattern and or mirror parent child relation

But drag and drop from the FM creates a copy, not a mirror.

I know, a copy that I can edit with out it having any constraints to the parent is what I want.  You can't edit a mirrored or patterned feature with out editing the parent it came from thus giving the need to dissolve those ties which I can't do.  Drag and drop or copying usually leaves you with some issues of fixing the ref. geometry that you want to be constrained to.  Not hard to do, just want an easier faster way to go with to hot intelligent blond I can't seem to find.

RE: desolve pattern and or mirror parent child relation

If you just want to be able to individually move patterned features (per your original post) then the Sketch Pattern option would probably be more useful for you.

If you want to modify the base shape of the feature, then copying from FM tree method would be best.
