In a 3-Phase power transmission line, is the overhead ground wire has an effect on the overall transmission line impedance? Kindly enlighten me. Thank you.

RE: Transmission Line Impedance

The OGW has no effect on the positive-sequence reactance but it does have a large effect on the zero-sequence reactance.

Thanks for the reply jghrist. My next question is: How to determine the zero sequence reactance with respect to the size and orientation of the overhead ground wire?

RE: Transmission Line Impedance

Check the Symmetrical Components section of FAQ238-1287.  The Anderson book goes into great detail and the Blackburn book may be sufficient.  Many Power System Analysis texts referenced will also include some information.
