piping design for fluid transfer

piping design for fluid transfer

(OP)
i work in plant operations. I am asked to design piping /pumpfor transferring MEG from one storage tank to 2 daily run tanks at controlled flow rates (flow control valve) .

I have never done designing before. I need some help

RE: piping design for fluid transfer

This will be an easy first design for you. The basic steps will be:

1) Chose a maximum flow rate to use for design
2) Size your transfer piping based on the flow basis
3) Chose a control valve DP and size your control valve
4) Select a pump based on the required head (pipe losses, control valve DP, elevation changes) and flowrate (including min flow). This item will include the details of pump minimum flow scheme, seal plan, etc.

best wishes,
sshep
