subsea ball valve vs gate valve

(OP)
Between ball valve and gate valve, which one will be a better valve for isolation on a subsea manifold header (from an oil well)?

RE: subsea ball valve vs gate valve

Use a quick opening 1/4 turn ball.  Don't make any more problems for divers or ROVs than absolutely necessary.

RE: subsea ball valve vs gate valve

To expand on this good advice, a 10-inch rising stem gate valve takes over 100 turns to go from fully open to fully shut (or vice versa).  There are few things field guys hate more.
