Subassembly modification

Subassembly modification

Subassembly modification

(OP)

Say I am building a box out of separate parts (not molded). I would have bottom, sides, and front and back. I would like to radius the sides of the finished box, but the parts files should remain non radiused. How is this done. Ideally too, I would like a subassembly of the fabricated box with out the radii, as it might be on a manufacturing shelf this way.

RE: Subassembly modification

Do you mean radius the edges of the side plate where they meet the front and back plates?

Or do you mean bend the side plates into a curve?

cheers

Assuming the side plate is internal, then in this case the edge of the front and back plates would be radiused. For the cutlist/BOM, the front/back plate file would show a part with out the radius, as they would simply be pieces cut to be fabricated.

In top view, it would be a rectangle with radiuses on each corner. Depending on the size of the material the sidepieces may or may not be effected. Generally they would not though. If this were a molded box, the outer edges of the box would have radii running upward.

RE: Subassembly modification

Use the Insert > Assembly Feature > Cut function.

cheers

Thanks a bunch, I'll give it a try
