Waste water pumping from industrial laundry

Waste water pumping from industrial laundry

Waste water pumping from industrial laundry

Hi guys and girls - time for me to ask a question.
I have been asked to look at a water reclaimation system in a large industrial laundry. I understand all the pumping problems of handling the lint with pumping equipment and in this case some sand in the waste water - I could however, do with some guidance in the separation of the lint from the water.

A fair portion of the lint ends up as sludge in the bottom of their holding tank at the moment -  so I see 2 separate problems 1 being the larger portions of the lint within the water cycle and the second being the small fraction which can probably ony be separated by settlement or a filter press.

Does anyone have any direct experience in this area and any help or guidance would be appreciated.

RE: Waste water pumping from industrial laundry

You probably already know the stuff about laundry wastes here:

Here's some puffery for separators that appears to be on point:

When I was a kid, I worked on a triple cascaded bank of hydrocyclone clarifiers for paper stock, which is sort of like short lint in suspension.  I think they were intended to remove sand and such and pass the stock.  I remember the separated discharge from the tertiary stage as being quite milky with paper stock, so they do separate at least some of it.  I think that's why they were cascaded.  Maybe they'd work for lint, too.
