Do we still need to turn off our Virus Protection?

Do we still need to turn off our Virus Protection?

Do we still need to turn off our Virus Protection?

Do we still need to turn off our Virus Protection while installing upgrades and service packs?  The answer is yes as of 3/13/2007. See VAR’s comment:

Brad,
Yes it is still recommended to turn off any and all protection software.
These software's have been getting more aggressive and causing more problems.
It's bad enough now that we state in the release notes the McAfee flags SolidWorks installation files as infected, then removes them.  That is sure nice of them.

RE: Do we still need to turn off our Virus Protection?

It is generally a good idea to turn it off when installing any software.

Chris,
I agree, but I have to fight IT or IS every time.

I know ... I'm in IT/IS.
"IT/IS the way IT/IS".
Luckly when I install SolidWorks or AutoCAD, I'm the one doing it ... I just have to get past the server guys!
