Cyclic Symmetry

Cyclic Symmetry

Cyclic Symmetry

(OP)
Hi,

I am trying to analyze a model of a stiffened cylinder.  I have run the full model, and are now trying to set up a cyclic symmetry model of 1/8 of the whole cylinder to save computational time as I will eventually do an optimization on it.  Ive set up the cyclic symmetry with the appropriate keywords and master/slave surfaces, but are having trouble in the output.  For example, I cannot export any XY data relating to reaction forces when they seem to appear fine when i contour the results or query individual nodes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

RE: Cyclic Symmetry

You cannot export the XY data ? That means you have already extracted the XY data, doesn't it ?

If you have the XY data, you can use edit and then copy-paste it into Excel directly, for example.

RE: Cyclic Symmetry

Have you saved your XY data in Viewer? You have to do that before you can export it to file.

Regards

Martin

RE: Cyclic Symmetry

It wont allow me to save the XY data after I go to "XY data from odb output".

I get a message saying that either my output was not requested in the output requests or that it is unavailable for this kind of element.

The output in question is just a reaction force for SC4 elements, and it worked fine for the full cylinder model and the countours appear as well.  It is just in the cyclic symmetric model output database that it wont save the reaction forces as XY data.
Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Thanks
