Review and Stamping of Plans

Review and Stamping of Plans

Review and Stamping of Plans

(OP)
Just curious to see what fees are typically pursued when providing the use of your stamp on reviewed plan sheets?

No design or drafting required only review and stamp. Plans usually will consist of 3 sheets. Review time 1/2 - 1.0 hour.

This opportunity is not a full time position so hourly wages will not apply.

Thoughts?

RE: Review and Stamping of Plans

Some good discussion of that topic in Structural Engineering forum- thread507-150661

RE: Review and Stamping of Plans

10-15% of construction estimate.

Thanks for the responses.  I have read through the linked thread and it has given me plenty of information.

I am not one to flip the page and check the box, but I do belive a thorough review (re-design/calc/etc..) can be completed on small jobs in very little time.

I will be checking the states laws on this subject before doing anything that may put me or my liscense in jeopardy.

That linked thread mentioned a engineers getting "slapped" for plan stamping.  What is the typical consequence for plan stamping if repremanded by the governing board?

Thanks again.

RE: Review and Stamping of Plans

Varies from State to Commonwealth. I.E. Fines: $2500 to $5000; Letter of Reprimand including temporary loss of license until ethics courses passed: Voluntary compliance with Cease and Desist Letter from Attorney General ,(or six months encarceration upon repeat infraction); return of fees to clients.
