Change Unit using Designtable

Change Unit using Designtable

(OP)
Hi,

I am having a part file which need to be design table driven for various configurations. There is also a drawing file for this part file. This part is modelled in mm.

All the configurations were in mm. Now I need to add a couple of Inch configurations. I can some how generate a model by using a 25.4 factor. But I cant figure out what to do with the drawing for the inch part.

I need information on how to achive the drawing files also in inches when the part configuration is in inches.

RE: Change Unit using Designtable

Make a 1"x1"x1" block. Then make a 25.4cmx25.4cmx25.4cm block.

Then drop them both an an assembly & compare the relative sizes.

Then stop thinking AutoCAD.

For your drawing... you'll probably have to make 2 separate drawing files... or use dual dimension units.

RE: Change Unit using Designtable

TateJ ... Typo alert! ... 25.4cm should have been 25.4mm or 2.54cm.

bmrao123 ... You do not have to worry about using scale parts to achieve correct sizes when using SolidWorks. Everything is drawn actual/full size depending on the units used. I have to agree with TateJ except that I would place the "Stop thinking AutoCAD" as the first step.

cheers

RE: Change Unit using Designtable

I dont think that is what bmrao123 is asking at all.  He wants to know how he can have multiple sheets of different configurations in a drawing, some sheets with metric dimensions and some sheets with inch.  I believe the 25.4 factor he's talking about is for the design table that he already has setup in mm.  Other than picking every dimension and changing the units under the properties, I'm not sure how to do it, maybe someone else can help, or knows of a macro.

Yes. mncad is correct. Thats is the exact situation.
I need to have just one drawing that can be manupulated accordingly.
