How to control bulbs in Trucks?

How to control bulbs in Trucks?

(OP)
Hello guys,

First of all, let me congratulate all of you because of this helpful forum.

Lets go to my question. I have to control bulbs of a truck in my next project. Intelligent PowerFETs in the market are design for Car environment, am I right? Which kind of intelligent FETs should I use for Truck enviornment (load dump, overvoltages, ...)?

Thanks
Iamyo

RE: How to control bulbs in Trucks?

I've never heard of an "intelligent" FET, but read the datasheets to determine if it will be best suited to your situation.  Load dumps in trucks are even nastier than load dumps in cars due to the typically higher voltages and currents involved.  Some companies advertise certain units specifically for the automotive market, so their datasheets will specifically mention items like "load dump".
