Fire Pump Testing

Fire Pump Testing

(OP)
Hello all,

1) Does anyone have a testing procedure for testing the fire hose sytem in a Telecom building??

2) Have you come across " WATER PICKETS" used for testing

Nans

RE: Fire Pump Testing

Are you asking how to test the fire pump, or a standpipe system?

Fire pump testing typically has an outside header to use.  Standpipes are typically done from the roof.  If you have PRVs on a standpipe, then you should have a 3" drain riser you can use???

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.
I am looking for the fire pump and the standpipe system.
There was an incident while testing the standpipe - the farthest point....the storm drain from the roof leaked and flooded some rooms.

What is a drain riser ??

Any idea on Water pickets ??

RE: Fire Pump Testing

I have never heard of Water pickets?

A drain riser is simply a vertical pipe that is installed adjacent to a supply riser to tie in the common drains and discharge at a lower level.

I don't think you have PRVs from the description, so the 3" drain riser would not be present.

It sounds like the storm drains may need some work, or were not sized to handle standpipe system testing.

RE: Fire Pump Testing

I am seen the water shot over the side of the building. But, you may want to have a few people on the ground to see where the water is going beacuse one city flooded a underground parking garage.

Never heard of water picket maybe DIFFUSER???

RE: Fire Pump Testing

Maybe water spigot?
