HELP!!! Need to get up to speed on corrosion engineering.

HELP!!! Need to get up to speed on corrosion engineering.

HELP!!! Need to get up to speed on corrosion engineering.

(OP)
I have recently been dubbed "The Corrosion Engineer" by my employer.  This is in addition to my regular duties.  I have been given a small training budget, which I want to use wisely and effectively.

My responsibilities are to review the results of our corrosion technician (who has about 3 years experience and is NACE CP level 1 qualified), provide input and feedback based on his results for project scopes, estimates, etc., and the review of design plans for civil infrastructure (buried utilities), tanks, and building structures.

I'm a seasoned civil engineer, but the corrosion thing is new to me.  I'm located in the central USA.

Any input on appropriate courses, references, and the like would be greatly appreciated.  Other advice such as opportunities that could be opened are also welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Ed's on the right track.  How much is your training budget?  You might as well go through the whole 2-week NACE CIP 1 & 2 training.  Looks like they now have a self-study option which will save you a few hundred bucks per course plus a few days in per diem travel costs (it is 3.5 days in the classroom instead of 6).  They also have a number of other courses that you might find useful.

RE: HELP!!! Need to get up to speed on corrosion engineering.

Here is a very comprehensive self study course on corrosion. This is one of several courses from ASM that I've taken. All courses were well worth the effort to complete.
They have quite a cross section of courses available for self study.
I would also recommend an ASM membership.
