Fluid Pressure
Fluid Pressure
(OP)
Can someone help me remember how to calculate a pressure from a velocity of water? I have a pump in a river that flows at 10 feet/sec. I need to calculate the pressure the water exerts on the pump to design the anchorage.
Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks!

RE: Fluid Pressure
Pressure = 1/2 rho V^2 C
F= force from current
rho= density of water (not pcf, divide by gravity first)
v= velocity of water
A= X-section area of the pump
C= Drag coefficient.
C for a car is about .45. Maybe use high number like .7 or something.
