missing parts when exporting STEP

missing parts when exporting STEP

missing parts when exporting STEP

(OP)
Hello,

Good day, we have a UG NX4 assembly.

When we export it into STEP and then open it back in UG NX4 there are missing parts. The parts are solids (not surfaces).

Most parts (90%) are there, but approximately 10% are missing.

Any ideas why what could cause the parts to be missing from STEP?

Thank you,

Joseph

RE: missing parts when exporting STEP

Check the translation log file to see if any errors occurred during the translation. If significant errors occur during part translation that part will get skipped.

RE: missing parts when exporting STEP

Make sure that all of the files are loaded when you export the assembly.  Also make sure that all of the components are actual solid models and not facetted versions of the component.

Hello cowski and John,

The log file showed some errors, but they were pointing to other part files (i.e. not the missing parts).

We used Start Button > Programs > NX4 > Translators > STEP203. In other words we did not open NX and load the assembly.

Thank you for your help, approximately 95% of the parts translated. And we can find the other 5%. So this issue is now closed.

Best regards,

Joseph
