Thermal spraying over martensitic stainless steel

Thermal spraying over martensitic stainless steel

(OP)
Hi,

We are thinking in applying a Metco 18C linning to a 1.4418 substract. The problem is:
The substract is quenched and tempered (1200°C and 550°C respectively).
The Metco 18C powder needs to be heated to 1100°C and cooled slowly.
It will change the original martensitic structure (80% matensite - 15% austenite - 5% ferrite)to another structure, decreasing also the mechanical properties.

Does anyone has a TTT or CCT diagram for EN 10088 - 1.4418?
Or does anyone know what kind of structure wil be formed?

Thanks in advance!

RE: Thermal spraying over martensitic stainless steel

You will be normalizing it with this treatment.
Why 18C?  What special properties are you after?
