I'm working in a valves manufacturer company
One of my customers require a ball valve 6" in 316 - 2500 lbs.  Our engineer doesn't want to manufacture this valve in 316 (due to the pressure)he requires Duplex which implies a higher price.  Someone could give me his point of view of the resitance of the 316 at this pressure
We have already manufacture a ball valve 6" in 316 for this pressure with success but the new ingineers don't want to take the risk....are they right...Many thanks for your help

Best Regards
magali

RE: material resistance

We have plenty of stainless 316 at 2500 lbs but the problem is not pressure it is the partial pressure of components that can be corrosive in the fluid you have in the valve, what is the service ?

Thanks for this position even if it's not enough clear for me.... For this valve I don't know the service condition.  Are you a valves (ball valve)manufacturer?
The problem is that our software Samcef which makes finite element calculations shows us, when we put a pressure on a piece, this one is deforming.  Never have problem? Do you use 316 for 4500lbs?
