Inventor 7 to Autocad 2002

Inventor 7 to Autocad 2002

(OP)
Dear Folks;

I have some details that need to be translated from Inventor 7 to Autocad 2002.

I would like to save as dwg and have inventor transfer all the layers and text styles so they are identical to the autocad template file.

I am using qselect in autocad to convert "visible edges" to "object" layer, and "hidden edges" to "hidden" and so on, but I think Inventor is capable is saving dwg with the appropiate layers directly.

I have tried looking for file and font mapping in the inventor help but cannot find anything.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Best Regards

RE: Inventor 7 to Autocad 2002

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that you have to have the EXACT same layers in your Inventor template as you have in your AutoCAD template. No more and no less. Even spelled the same.

Also, I think the text in the AutoCAD template needs to be a TTF or the dimensions won't translate.

There may also be more to it that I don't know.

RE: Inventor 7 to Autocad 2002

I don't believe you can change the layer names or add/remove layers in inventor 7. In my experience what you are currently doing is the only way to this with the older versions of inventor.
