Knurling of SAE 841 oil-impregnated, sintered bronze?
Knurling of SAE 841 oil-impregnated, sintered bronze?
(OP)
I'm considering a part made of either brass or oilite bronze. I'd prefer to use bronze but have never seen it knurled. I know that brass knurls well... Does the Tin content cause any issues with knurling of oilite bronze? Does the sintered construction create any issues for knurling?
Thanks,

Never tried knurling an oilite bushing, but would suspect that it will tend to fracture and turn (back) to powder well before a decent knurl impression could be made. If you try to go this route, suggest you conact Symmco, they make a very good, high-strength sintered bushing.

Performing a knurlng action might lead to damage of the pores and material surrounding it.
