Creating sub assemblies

Creating sub assemblies

Creating sub assemblies

(OP)
Hello, I have an assembly and have added a few parts to the main assembly. Now I want to call some of the parts as a sub-assembly (this is to use the sub-assembly in some other assys as well and to have better control in my main assy). One way I can do it is to copy the entire model with a different assy name and delete the ones which are not part of the new sub-assembly i am intending to create. I think that is not the right and efficient way to do it. Can someone help me on this ? Thanks.

RE: Creating sub assemblies

ctrl select (or shift select) the parts you want to put in the sub-assembly, RMB, create sub-assembly.

RE: Creating sub assemblies

You may have to fix or adjust some mates when you do as Jeff suggests, but it is the best way to do it.

cheers

Thank you both. It was nice and easy.
