I posted this question earlier but I have some new information. I am setting up a "Tumbler" (4'w X 6'h)that will be turning at a speed of 18 RPM's. I will be powering this with a gearmotor with a 57:1 ratio which gives it an output speed of 29 RPM's. The gearmotor has a 1" shaft as well as the Tumbler "drive shaft". I need to go from 29 RPM's (output motor speed) down to 18 RPM's on the drum. What would I need as far as sprocket sizing on the motor and the drum??

The gearmotor will be sitting directly below the tumbler sprocket.The tumbler is just a 6' diameter wooden drum that revolves on a 1" shaft mounted in pillow block bearings.

Well, you could use sprockets of 18 teeth on the motor and 29 teeth on the drum.  This would give you the perfect ratio.

Use a 1.6 to 1 ratio for sprockets, like 18 & 29, 10 & 16,15 & 24, 20& 32. If you want exact sprocket sizing with chain pitch, post the HP & Torque figures from the gearmotor, as well as both shaft sizes & center distance.

1/2 HP gearmotor with 1089 in. pounds torque at full load. 30" center to center distance on 1" shafts (tumbler axle & motor).

I would use a 40B15F1" & a 40B24F1" and #40 chain. This should give a sufficient service factor (actually a little overkill, but #40 sprockets & chain are usually very affordable & readily available. You can buy sprockets through Browning, UST, Boston, any Power Transmission distributor or Grainger or MSC.
