OS&Y Gate Valve

OS&Y Gate Valve

(OP)
What are the advantages, other than open/shut indication, of using an outside stem & yoke gate valve versus a non-rising stem type? Are they easier to maintain or more economical in some way?

RE: OS&Y Gate Valve

Thanks rconner, Precisely the input I was looking for.
Thanks again

RE: OS&Y Gate Valve

The OS&Y valve is recommended in many cases in which anyone can see far away whether the valve is open or close. That indication allow, for instance, in fire protection systems to take quick action when the valve is closed and has to be open all the time.

RE: OS&Y Gate Valve

We specify an OS&Y valves for high temperature service (>400F) to protect the seals.
