crack growth simulation

(OP)
Hallo everybody,

I have to simulate a crack growth. Is it possible to applied a load in function of time? and have a crack (as nodes release) in function of time too?

thanks in advance,
Albert

RE: crack growth simulation

Yes. You should use (and read the doc. about) amplitudes.
The load can be typicaly defined as L(time)=Magnitude*Amplitude(time). You can define a Amplitude curve in various ways, all of them explained in detail in documentation.

Yes, you can prescribe the crack length as function of time.
Reading the ABAQUS Analysis User's Manual (v6.6)-> 11.4.3 Crack propagation analysis is highly recomended.
