Hi All,

Does anyone one here have experience in performing fluter and/or aeroelastic analysis with NASTRAN ?

If so I have a question regarding the spline elements that connect the aerodynamic and structural meshes. The NASTRAN documentation leaves many unanswered questions about how these are applied in practise. Also the sample problems are rather simplistic and don't relate well to real world analysis problems, primarily because they use highly idealised structural models.

In essense what I have is a model of an airplane wing that is constructed from shear panels, quads and rods. The model closely approximates the geometry of the spars, skins, ribs etc. In short it is fairly representative of the actual geometry and structure of the wing. The structural model is yielding good results for static stress, natural frequencies and mode shapes. The aerodynamic mesh is a simple planar mesh.

So my question is: which of the available spline elements is best used for the interpolation between the structural and aerodynamic meshes that I have described. How is the element best used in this application ?
