PDA Monitoring

(OP)
My company is looking for a company that could do pile driving monitoring. If someone tells me about that or give an idea of how much they charge hourly or per day for PDA monitoring. Help is freally appreciated

RE: PDA Monitoring

Go to www.pile.com

You could also contact major testing groups like Mactec Engineering and Consulting www.mactec.com

RE: PDA Monitoring

i've been involved with a pile job on an occasion or two. our firm does a fair amount of this for clients. as far as i am aware, we typically are only involved with jobs where we provided the foundation and pile recommendations as part of the subsurface exploration. specifically referring to the actual field work, there would be unit rate time for the staff engineer to be onsite full time during the pile installation. there's also senior staff time for review, consultation plus some admin time. in my opinion, the overall fee depends primarily on the installation contractor's efficiency and coordination with our people. from what i have seen, the schedule provided to us during the proposal phase is typically much shorter than the actual schedule at the end of the job.
in what part of the country are you looking for a firm to perform the work?

RE: PDA Monitoring

i just re-read the question after i drank my cup of coffee and woke up. then i realized you're asking about PDA and not just observation of the pile installation itself. since i passed up the opportunity to get learned up on the PDA, i'm not personally familiar enough with our capabilities to go into any sort of detail. depending on where you're interested in doing the work, we may or may not have the capability to cover the work. however we might have a contact in the region that can contract the work.
you might find more info that can help at this link:

RE: PDA Monitoring

If you want PDA, start with Goble, Rausche, and Likins in Warrensville Heights, Ohio (Cleveland area).  I'm home now and don't have their phone number handy, but the area code is 216 (Big H's home country).  You can probably find their ad in Civil Engineering magazine, or look them up on the web.  There are a number of companies that do the work, but they all use PDAs from Pile Dynamics, Inc., which may still operate under the same roof as GRL.  Prof. Goble, Dr. Rausche, and Mr. Likins were the main developers of the techniques and equipment when they were at Case Western Reserve U (a very fine institution that turns out only the most capable and knowledgeable engineers, with thorough understanding of principles and practice, and great humility, like me for example).
