I have a drawing with a dimension that I want to read as "B"
(not in quotes). When I try to change the dimensions properties from @D to  @S and change the name to B instead of ad293 I get a error saying "SYMBOL IS RESERVED OR ALREADY EXIST". I believe the drawing had a dimension called B before that was deleted. Is there a way around this? Thanks in advance

KTG

RE: dimension symbol name

You can override the dimension with '@OB' (no quotes, letter O). It should only display the B. Hope that helps.

tydguy,

 worked perfect!!! Thanks

RE: dimension symbol name

The @O only works for dimensions created in the drawing, not for part dimensions.  Depending on your company/personal modeling policy/philosophy, some (including myself) would say that dimensions should never be created in the drawing.  But it is a handy work around when you can't get anything else to work.

RE: dimension symbol name

been trying to find the list of reserved parameters names, can't find my book

i think c is one, and pi is also on the list..anyone have that handy?
