Tensile strength, minimum: 31 ksi (214 MPa).
Chemistry: Phosphorus 0.75% max, Sulfur 0.15% max.

See ASTM A126-04 Standard Specification for Gray Iron Castings for Valves, Flanges, and Pipe Fittings

http://www.astm.org/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/DATABASE.CART/REDLINE_PAGES/A126.htm?L+mystore+yrjw1219

It gives details on sampling for composition, tensile test specimens & also gives several equivalent Classes in ASTM A48 (note: these are size-dependent).
