MTR¦s Missing and fittings need to be used

MTR¦s Missing and fittings need to be used

MTR¦s Missing and fittings need to be used

(OP)
There are some pipeline fittings without MTR´s: Groove, globe and check valves, tees, elbows,flanges, caps, weldolet, sockoleet, reducers, etc., with different diameters, wall thickness and ratings. Within all the possibilities the Company wants to try of recuperating the majority of them. According with the specifications for each one, gentlemen, could you give us information regarding of the tests, methods we might certificate the fittings and successfully use them?

All the suggestions will be very well received.

Thanks in advance.

RE: MTR¦s Missing and fittings need to be used

At minimum a hardness and chemistry will be needed.  In some cases mechanical properties will be required.  Some will nto be usable since a verification of heat treatment may also be needed dependign on the alloy and specification.

If a certified chemistry and hardness check will cost you $X.  Then you need to decide if it is worth even looking at fittings that aren't worth at least 3 times $X, or whatever, depending on what your time and effort are worth.

You will need to research each item and see what spec it needs to meet, and then see what tests are required.
If these are going to be used in critical applications I wouldn't touch the project.

Review the following ASME Standards, which are applicable to valves and fittings;

ASME B16.34
ASME B16.5
ASME B16.9
ASME B16.11

The above Standards will reference specific ASTM or ASME Material Standards that you need to review for re-certifying the material. As mentioned above, a complete chemical analysis will be required and hardness testing. This should be done by a competent metallurgical laboratory.

This is not something that is that difficult to do, we have had to so this on code material we received where the paperwork was lost in the storeroom.
