Marine growth

Marine growth

(OP)
What is marine growth? how to account that in anlysis?
is it just direction addition of weight to the structure and can we account its mass in seismic case?

RE: Marine growth

You must certainly account for its mass in seismic calculations, weight for static strength, and also the increased cross-sectional area and roughness for any wave force calculations.

What is marine growth?

Exactly what it says.  It is growth, deposition and fouling, biological in nature which grows on structures in a marine environment.  Think, anemones, polyps, seaweed, barnacles, mussels, etc.

It varies with depth, as sunlight reduces.
