Mixed Bed filter conductivity rinse

Mixed Bed filter conductivity rinse

Mixed Bed filter conductivity rinse

(OP)
Hello to all. On site we have a demin plant. A part of this plant is the mixed bed filters. We noticed , after 1 year of operation that during the step of conductivity rinse the value of conductivity takes a lot to decrease. As a result the sequence stops and you have to manual reset . The conductivity sensor is mounted to the pipe outlet of the mixed bed filter. Usually the slow decrease of a conductivity value may say that we need to change the sensor. Can you help me on this?

RE: Mixed Bed filter conductivity rinse

Stratford,
You probabbly do not need to change the sensor. It sounds like the bed is just taking a while to rinse down. This could be due to any number of things, biofouling, ionic fouling, generation of fines and a shift in the mixed bed resin interface. As a first step I would recomend washing the resins. A brine squeeze may solve the problem.
Cheers

Mark Hutton

RE: Mixed Bed filter conductivity rinse

I agree with HEC. We need not to change the PH sensor. In most cases, just clean the sensor surface with water and re-calibrate the analyzer use standard solvent. The sensor will be OK.
