Transient Analysis Software
Transient Analysis Software
(OP)
Hi,
I am trying to get input on the best water hammer software to purchase. I have found the other posts on this subject helpful, and thought others might have additional comments. I am debating between the following: AFT Impulse, and KY Pipe2000 Surge. I also am having a demo CD sent to me on PipeNet, but don't know much about it yet. I prefer AFT Impulse over Surge, but it is double the price of Surge software. Plus it seems the Surge software has free technical support. Does anyone with experience with any of these packages have any comments that can assist me in this decision process?
Thanks,
kaet

RE: Transient Analysis Software
Impulse does everything needed to meet the modern requirements of transient analysis. The support is exemplary and free if you have a maintenance agreement.
The program is not only useful for the water industry but petrochem and mining. Other packages tend to focus just on the water in waterhammer.
The initial licence fee is but a small part of the costs in getting to know the software and then applying it. If you are focussed on the price of a licence you are lost before you start. The software is a tool. How you use it is more important than the licence fee.
Suggest you read the attached and start a check list of software capability http://www.civil.ist.utl.pt/~hr/PS-HP.pdf
