Foreshortened Dimensions

Foreshortened Dimensions

Foreshortened Dimensions

Is there some trick to creating these types of dimensions?  Every time I try to drag the dimension from one view to another, I get a red circle with a line thru it.

Any info would be appreciated, as the SW help section was not much help.

Thanks,
BodyBagger

Forgot to mention that I did check the archives and found a few things but was hoping for a little more info.

Thanks

Are you holding down the Shift or Ctrl key?

cheers

Sorry bout that.

I am holding the SHIFT key.

Also, I have a section view that has a detail view.  The detail view is where I would like to place the foreshortened diameter dimension.  If I RMB the dimension I do not get those options of foreshortened dimensions.

I am including a pic

RE: Foreshortened Dimensions

The foreshortened dimension only works for Insert > Model Items dimensions. It looks like you placed the 31.000 dimension manually. It has no prefix symbol. Is it even a radius or diameter?

cheers

RE: Foreshortened Dimensions

Best thing I can think to do is to hide the dimension and extension line for that one side. Right click each and select "Hide Extension Line" & "Hide Dimension Line".

CBL - That was the trick.  I went back to the model and created the 31.000 Ø dimension and did an "Insert Model Item".  I ten dragged it over to the detail and BAM! there it was :)

Star 4 you, thanks

RE: Foreshortened Dimensions

Of course, this prolly should be an option that we can select.
